The author of the book Martian Settlers - I (a science fiction) is Prof. Jagdish Rai. Prof. Rai is a PhD in Physics from Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, India and was Professor of Physics, Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, Uttarakhand, India for about 35 years. He has nearly 200 publications to his credit. Prof. Rai had also worked at Radio astronomical Institute, University of Bonn, Germany; New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology, New Mexico, USA, University of Toronto, Canada and Clemson University, South Carolina USA. He was Vice Chancellor of Invertis University Bareilly, India.
Prof. Rai received various awards and honors. He received Bharatmata award for his contribution to higher education, Global award for outstanding contribution to education given by World Education Congress, National Uttar Pradesh Award for excellent contribution to higher Education given by the Government of Uttar Pradesh, India. He was made distinguished fellow of the International Educators Group, Washington DC, USA. He is advisor to some universities and colleges in India.
